EHP Registration process

This page covers the registration process to access the Nikon A1R confocal in the Eastern Hill Precinct Node of the Biological Optical Microscopy Platform.

You are required to complete all of the below sections BEFORE you can book in an instrument induction.

EHP registration, OHS documentation & Training documents

Please read the below information, download and fill in the relevant forms. You are required to provide the below forms/info BEFORE you can book in an instrument induction.

  • Computer access

    The computer is accessed using a shared local account and users create a username and password within NIS elements.

    For access to the network the computer is equipped with wireless card and users can connect to eduroam using their full university email. Non-UoM staff/students can apply for a contractor account: Please fill out the HR39ET form and forward to John Answerth to arrange this account.

  • Room Access

    The microscope is located in level 1 Biofab3D laboratory, at the Clinical Sciences Building. For access to Biofab laboratories you will require a confocal visitor card that can be collected from a key safe (labelled "scope") on the ground floor at the Clinical Sciences Building, the code will be provided after local induction.

  • Biofab laboratory safety induction

    All researchers performing work within the Biofab laboratory will have to attend a local building safety induction. Please contact Cathal O'Connell to arrange an induction if you haven't attended one.

  • User Agreement Form (UA Form)

    You will need to complete the user agreement form. University of Melbourne researchers are required to provide a default Themis code for billing. External researchers are required to provide a Invoice information or a Purchase Order number.

  • Training documentation

    Instrument training

    Before booking in an instrument induction you will need to complete the following steps:

    1) Training Documentation: Read the relevant training documentation (Instructions, SOP & RA; download here).

    You are required to declare that you have read these documents at the end of this page

    2) Competency Assessment: Complete the relevant competency assessment. You are required to get 100% to pass the assessment. You will need to click on the "View my score" option at the end of the quiz to see your score and you can use the "edit my responses" option to correct any incorrect answers.

    3) Online Booking System: Register for the booking system via this link and request access to the instrument. Further instructions are provided with the training documentation.
