Registration and Training Process - Analysis
This page explains on how to gain access to BOMP Image analysis computers or trained for image analysis.
Once you have your microscopy images, we can help you further in image processing, visualisation and quantification. Please reach out early at the onset of your project to determine appropriate methods and metrics. You can start learning the basics using our online resources, or request training/consultation on image analysis via below steps.
Our analysis training/induction is available in the following formats:
- Short Consultation (30 minutes)
- Local Induction + Short Consultation (1 hour)
- Local Induction + Extended Consultation/Software Training (2 hours)
- Extended Consultation/Software Training Only (up to 2 hours)
Formats 2–4 are charged at a training rate.
- Step 1 Consult with BOMP staff

- Please contact BOMP staff (bomp-enquiries@unimelb.edu.au) for consultation or training.
- Step 2 Register to booking system (iLab)

- Every instrument booking and training registration will be done via iLab.
- Both you and your supervisor should register to iLab.

- Step 3 Training/Consultation request form (iLab)

- BOMP staff will initiate the training request form.
- Complete and submit the form in iLab.
- Step 4 Arrange training session

- Once the form has been submitted, BOMP staff will check it and arrange training sessions. If any form is incomplete, we will contact you for more details before booking a training session.
- Step 5 Training

- Session is usually done in person, preferably using user’s own data.
- Step 6 (For options with local induction) Competency verification

- If we have deemed you competent, we will give you an independent access to the booking calendar and finalise training steps (e.g. add to mailing list etc).
- Step 7 Further assistance

- Further assistance for image analysis support will be available upon request and long-term assistance will be provided as a collaboration format (see collaboration agreement).
